Are you passionate about supporting individuals on their journey to recovery or looking to make a meaningful impact in your community? The Surry County Office of Substance Abuse Recovery (SCOSAR), in partnership with the Goodwill Career Connections Center of Surry County, is launching its Spring 2026 Recovery Coach Training Cohort. This comprehensive, gold-standard training—approved by the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR)—is open to everyone, whether you’re a professional, a person in recovery, a family member, or simply an ally. The program includes 58 hours of engaging, Zoom-based instruction covering the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy, Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches, and Recovery Coaching in Justice Settings, with all materials and tuition provided free of charge thanks to generous grant funding. Participants will gain essential skills in active listening, ethical decision-making, and supporting justice-involved individuals, all while being guided by experienced instructors.
This unique training opportunity is designed to empower participants with the knowledge and tools needed to become effective recovery coaches, fostering hope and resilience in those seeking recovery from substance use. With a focus on accessibility, there are no prerequisites or lived experience requirements—just a commitment to complete the training and a desire to help others. The cohort is limited to 24 individuals, so early registration is encouraged. If you’re ready to take the next step in making a difference, reach out to Toby Bunton at buntont@co.surry.nc.us or Synthia Wilson at swilson@goodwillnwnc.org to learn more and apply.
