Serving Surry County and the Surry County Opioid Settlement FundSCOSAR’s Research and Data efforts strengthen Surry County’s response to substance use disorder (SUD) by turning local information into practical, community-driven action. By gathering and organizing county-relevant data, tracking trends over time, and helping partners understand what the numbers are showing, SCOSAR supports smarter planning, stronger collaboration, and more targeted prevention, treatment, and recovery strategies. This work helps identify emerging needs, monitor progress, and guide resources toward approaches that are working—so agencies, providers, and community leaders can make informed decisions that improve outcomes for people and families impacted by SUD in Surry County.
Surry County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council SCOSAR serves as the central “data home” for the Surry County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC), providing a reliable place where key information can be collected, organized, and understood to support youth-focused planning and prevention. By helping bring together relevant local data, maintain consistent reporting over time, and translate findings into clear takeaways, SCOSAR strengthens the JCPC’s ability to identify needs, track progress, and make informed decisions about programs and resources. This shared data foundation supports coordinated action across partners and helps ensure prevention strategies are guided by what’s happening in Surry County.
